The first taste of BL Berry I had was when I read the #MomFail Anthology, Afternoon Delight brought us a hilarious novella about the best friends of the main characters in this book. I found it really funny and thought this book looks like a great read so I signed up for it straight away! I’m so glad I did too.
Jeff and Henley first meet on a plane and things start out a little tumultuous to say the least, their first meeting was hilarious and had me cracking up laughing. We get to witness this couple through the start of their relationship and through the nine months of ups and downs that go along with an unplanned pregnancy.
There were so many times in this book that had me laughing so hard I nearly peed myself, BL Berry had me in stitches at times and I loved that about this story.
The characters were quirky and so totally likeable, you couldn’t help but be pulled into this chaotic story and laugh alongside these unique characters. The secondary characters were just as good in my opinion as the main characters especially Tara.
Jeff was such a sweetheart, he wasn’t like your typical men in books and I loved that so much about him. The fact that he could laugh at himself was a major plus for me too!
While we see a little of Tara in Afternoon Delight we get to see so much more of her and her hilarious antics in Birthquake. The things that came out of this woman’s mouth had me spitting my coffee all over the show, I could have cried that she made me spill that fine nectar of the gods lol. The friendship that Tara shared with Henley was an amazing bond and I think we all strive to have a friend who not only knows us that well but will get elbow deep into your amniotic fluid and still love you after.
This book was funny yet pulled at my heartstrings at times, I think the fact that we get to witness not only the highs of pregnancy and childbirth but the lows also is one of the things I loved most about this book, well that and he humour! BL Berry was a new author to me but after reading this I will definitely be reading more of her books!
About the Author
BL Berry grew up telling lies. Eventually, those lies turned into elaborate stories and when she grew older she started writing them down. When she’s not hiding behind her computer writing, you can find her spending time with her family or catching up on her favorite TV shows. Rumor has it she’ll sleep when she’s dead.
Residing outside of Kansas City, she lives with her husband, two children and black pug. Each day her family thanks the makers of e-Readers, because without which they would be living amongst stacks and stacks of romance novels. Conversely, each day B.L. Berry thanks the makers of e-Readers for hiding her book-hoarding tendencies.
