I met Bianca in an elevator.
She was on her way to interview me when we got stuck.
The beautiful, raven-haired reporter assumed I was a delivery guy because of the way I was dressed.
She had no clue I was really Dex Truitt, the wealthy, successful businessman she’d dubbed “Mister Moneybags”—her afternoon appointment.
Bianca told me how much she hated Dex’s type—snobby, over educated, silver- spooned men who didn’t appreciate the simple things in life.
So, after the elevator finally started moving again, I cancelled the interview and let her believe I was someone I wasn’t—a bike messenger named Jay. I loved the way she looked at the fake me and didn’t want it to end.
I began dating her as “Jay”—all the while letting her interview the real me over email.
I didn’t expect that our chemistry online would be just as hot.
I didn’t expect the mess I’d gotten myself into.
I didn’t expect that Jay and Dex would fall in love with her.
And she was falling for two men.
Only, both men were me.
And when she found out, we were both going to lose her.
Nothing could have prepared me for that day. And I certainly wasn’t prepared for what came after.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
Every time I read a Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward book I question if they will be able to deliver a book as good as their previous book and every time they prove to me just how talented they are! Not only is this book as good as their previous books but I think this one is definitely my favourite now.
Going into this book I had my expectations on what Dexter was going to be like, I thought I had him pegged but when I started reading Mister Moneybags I couldn’t believe how wrong I was. I had myself psyched up to hate Dex, I knew he was going to Lie to Bianca and pretend to be someone totally different. There was only one major problem with this though, the fact that I couldn’t hold on to my anger with him. He swindled my heart from me just as much as he swindled Bianca out of hers and in the end I couldn’t help but fall in love with this complex man. Dex’s nickname for Bianca really endeared me to him, it was cute.
Bianca wasn’t what I was expecting either, I had my doubts about her in the beginning of this book too. I wasn’t a big fan of how she judged Dex without even knowing the man. The further into the book we got the more I understood her reasoning though. Bianca was quite quirky, the first time we see her she ends up having a panic attack and playing with her stress balls….. Intrigued? You should be!! While I had mixed feelings about Bianca in the beginning of this book the more I got to know her character the more I liked her.
Dex wasn’t your typical Millionaire/ Billionaire, sure there were times he was your typical spoilt git he was so much more than that. While we have established he was a liar I understood why he lied and when he was caught he owned up to his mistakes and never made excuses for them. He was pretty humble, easy to relate to and not a complete manwhore which scores him definite points in my book! Dex had such a funny and witty sense of humour and that was one of the things I really adored about him, his innuendo’s were hilarious and brought some light into the book when it was needed.
This book isn’t packed full of sex scenes but the ones that are there are definitely hot and steamy. This was more of a slow burn book but it was definitely worth it when the sex happened.
I found the chemistry between first Jay and Bianca and then Dex and Bianca off the charts, you could feel their sizzling magnetism jumping off the pages of their story.
There was no way I could have guessed the direction Penelope and Vi were going to take us in this book, they completely threw me through a loop and I spent the last 25-30% of this book holding my breath waiting to see what was going to happen. The suspense nearly killed me and I couldn’t put this book down for a second especially while waiting to find out the end result.
Overall Mister Moneybags was an amazing story filled with lies, secrets, humour, forgiveness and passion. It was a pretty light read and while there were some hard hitting issues there was plenty of humour thrown in to balance it. I loved Dex and Bianca.
This book is told in dual pov and is a standalone.
I was given a complementary copy of this book for an honest and unbiased review.
