My life is a hot mess.
Single, working, and raising two daughters, it’s a miracle I get us up, dressed, and fed every morning. Forget about dating—nobody’s got time for that. Even if love hadn’t left me jaded, I’m not settling for anything less than perfect this time around.
Lucky for me, the perfect man just happens to work in my office. But there’s just one small problem: he’s my boss, and is totally off limits. But hey, if it’s meant to be, it’ll find a way, right?
Then a night out with friends turns into a night in with the walking-talking bad boy cliche of a bartender. It’s just one night. No harm, no foul, right?
Except when the hot bartender turns out to be my boss’s trouble-making brother, who wants more than just one night with me. The more I resist the spark between us, the more I find myself wanting him too. Which puts me in the middle of what could be the biggest sibling rivalry of the century.
Life is messy.
Well, love is even messier.
The first thing that caught my eye was the cover of this book, I was scrolling through sign ups and it literally felt like it jumped off the screen at me, then I read the synopsis and was intrigued. I don’t know if I just missed it or if it wasn’t on the form but I didn’t realise this was part of a duet. Had I known I probably would have waited for book two before I started it.
There were times I really liked and related to Lexi and then others where I could have shook her and told her to wise up! She yo-yoed back and forth a bit too much at times which really bugged me. She worked so hard trying to be the best and a stable parent for her children, she battled on even when she didn’t think she could and I really liked that about her. She was a bit naive about Cole and that part totally bugged me.
Luke was the one thing I loved about this book, he stole my heart from the very start! His dirty mouth had me fanning myself and his sweetness to Lexi and her girls had me melting for a whole different reason. He was all in from the moment he spent time with Lexi, he just knew there was something special about her and he tried his best to be the man she could depend on!
Cole was a complete fucknut, I hated him completely. He was a manipulative, sneaky and just all around bad guy in gym opinion. He didn’t care he was hurting Lexi and that really got to me. He will never win me over!
Russell was also a fuckwit, how he treated Lexi was awful and the way he let down his daughters was unforgivable. Lexi was a better woman than I would ever have been.
The ending of this book left me screaming Noooooo, I couldn’t believe how it ended and I swear I felt my heart drop. I wanted so much to just keep reading this story because I felt so invested in it.
